Sziget Festival announces Justice as headliners. For András the emigrant, being Hungarian maybe isn’t so bad after all. But then, in a wholly unsurprising twist, the Glorious Leader bans Pride Parades. And curbs press freedom. And withdraws Hungary from the ICC. Disheartened, András turns to history for answers; how the fuck did this happen?

But benders have their consequences… As he wakes from his booze-induced slumber, the surefire murder mystery penned during last night’s excitement now verges on incoherent, with pages missing and act three burnt to a crisp. He and his brother must now reconstruct last night’s events and solve the puzzle of his own creation; all before the publisher’s deadline the next morning.

This brand-new show written by Vic Llewellyn is a heart-warming story that celebrates food for the soul and food for the belly, set in the late 1970s under the backdrop of Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee. Colin, a grocer, has a special helper in his corner shop, Memphis, assisting him with preparations for the celebrations on Jubilee day. However, their work is interrupted when an eccentric customer comes in and gives Colin a magical book full of mesmerising stories, which leaves the Goblin with a difficult dilemma. 

This colourful story includes puppetry, music from Kid Carpet, and fairy tales that everyone knows and loves, including ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ and ‘The Ugly Duckling’.

Starring András Gönczöl as Colin & Ensemble in his professional stage debut!

Cornershop Goblin played at the Egg Theatre in Bath.
